Areas we cover The Upper Tarentaise

The Upper Tarentaise remains one of the most desirable and competitive Alpine property markets in France. It is here that we concentrate our work. Our long-standing presence and established relationships allow us to advise with impartial, first-hand insight into the valley.

Val d'Isère

Widely regarded as one of the most celebrated ski resorts in the world, Val d’Isère continues to set the benchmark. Its recent recognition as Best Ski Resort in the Condé Nast Traveller 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards, with a score of 99.17%, reflects what regular visitors already understand.

High-altitude skiing reaches 3,456 metres. The village retains its stone and timber architectural identity. Expansion is tightly controlled.

Property here mirrors that positioning. It remains one of the most resilient and valuable markets in the French Alps. Demand is sustained by international families and discreet wealth, while new development remains limited and carefully regulated.

Val d’Isère is rarely an impulsive purchase. Buyers tend to know precisely why they are here.

Tignes

Tignes shares the same expansive ski domain as Val d’Isère, yet its atmosphere is entirely different.

While it has not experienced the same intensity of price growth, that differential is precisely what draws certain buyers. There is an argument for continued upward movement as redevelopment progresses. Many older buildings are now undergoing significant transformation, repositioned as prime and ultra-prime residences.

There is also something about the openness of Tignes, the wide bowl, the sense of altitude and light, that appeals on a personal level. We both spent many years running our businesses here, and Ellie lived here for a period. That familiarity gives us an instinctive understanding of its evolution and its long-term direction.

For buyers prioritising altitude security, space and relative value within the same ski area, Tignes often becomes a serious consideration.

Sainte Foy Tarentaise en

Sainte Foy has become a firm favourite, and understandably so. Many clients begin their search convinced they are focused solely on Val d’Isère or Tignes. Yet after a visit to Sainte Foy, perspectives often shift.

North-facing skiing above 2,000 metres ensures snow reliability. The atmosphere is calm and family-friendly. Off-piste terrain is exceptional , and, in parts, still quietly protected from wider attention.

Architecturally, the resort has retained genuine alpine charm. Views stretch across the valley, uninterrupted and expansive. It also benefits from its position: roughly 20 to 30 minutes from La Rosière, Villaroger (Les Arcs), Tignes and Val d’Isère. Accessibility without intensity.

Average chalet prices currently sit in the region of €10,000–14,000 per square metre, depending on position and specification, a meaningful distinction compared to its larger neighbours.

Sainte Foy appeals to those who value environment over profile.

Séez & Bourg-Saint-Maurice

Demand in Séez and Bourg-Saint-Maurice has grown significantly, particularly among buyers intending to spend longer periods in the mountains.

Bourg-Saint-Maurice offers direct train connections to both Paris and London, a practical advantage that becomes increasingly important for extended stays. The funicular, accessed via a free local navette, transports skiers, bikers and walkers directly to Arc 1600.

Bourg thrives year-round. It is not purely seasonal. Sports, schools, cycling, hiking and local commerce continue long after the ski lifts close.

Séez sits approximately five minutes away, connected by free navette. Often described as Bourg’s sunnier sister, it retains more of a traditional village rhythm while remaining close to all services.

For some clients, these locations provide a primary Alpine base rather than simply a winter retreat.

La Rosière & Montvalezan

La Rosière and its surrounding hamlets enjoy a noticeably different quality of light. South-facing slopes bring full-day sunshine and wide, open views.

Linked to Italy via La Thuile, it is entirely possible to ski two distinct climates in a single day. The resort also benefits from the “retour d’est” weather pattern, like Val d’Isère and the rear of Sainte Foy, which can bring significant snowfall when other areas receive less.

The villages are well connected by ski bus, and the atmosphere remains family-oriented and relaxed.

Property prices are generally lower than Val d’Isère and Tignes, yet slightly above Sainte Foy depending on micro-location. Infrastructure investment continues, and the cross-border appeal strengthens its long-term position.

Other Villages & Hamlets

We understand that not every client is seeking the centre of a resort. A quieter hamlet, a traditional chalet in need of thoughtful renovation, or a home just beyond the main hub can be equally desirable.

Our focus remains on established ski resorts and their immediate surroundings, where demand, infrastructure and long-term positioning are clearly defined. However, we are always more than happy to explore these opportunities on a case-by-case basis. Our role is to help you identify the property that genuinely suits your lifestyle and objectives, wherever within the valley that may be.
